August 2008 W Teaching Orientation
Wednesday, August 20, 9:00am-4:00pm (breakfast and lunch provided)
PPB 129 (Pharmacy and Biology Building)
An optional syllabus and assignment workshop will be held on Thursday, August 21st, from 9:00 - 12noon.
This orientation will outline best practices for teaching writing in the disciplines. It will feature interactive workshops on building robust revision processes into W courses, designing effective assignments, responding to student writing, and handling the paperload. Our aim is not only to enhance the quality of student learning in our courses but also to explore how some simple strategies might make each instructor's writing-intensive teaching more efficient and rewarding.
According to GEOC policy, all graduate students teaching W courses must attend a W Teaching Orientation once. For details on the policies related to graduate students teaching W courses, please click here.
