Maintaining momentum on your dissertation or graduate writing projects can be tough, but making a commitment to structured writing time can help. Writing in the presence of others brings a sense of solidarity and productivity that get you through the complex challenges of large projects. For these reasons, the Writing Center sponsors this two-day writing retreat to get serious productivity done.
Activities
All of the activities on the schedule are completely optional, and you are welcome to come in and out during the day.
Coffee, tea, snacks, and other refreshments will be provided.
Free lunch for attendees. *Note: These are ordered in limited amounts, and distributed on "first come, first served basis."
1-hour lunch break 12pm – 1pm.
Focus Sessions
We use a variation of the Pomodoro Technique. Basically, we set a timer, write for 50 minutes, then take a 10 minute break. The goal of the focus sessions is to set a short and achievable task for yourself and then get it done within the next hour by holding yourself accountable.
Feel free to email gradwriting@uconn.edu with any questions about the event. Hope to see you there!
